First Announcement and Call for Papers

The Scientific Council of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) on Radio-Physics and Mi-crowave Electronics, IEEE AP/MTT/ED/AES/GRS/NPS/EMB Societies East Ukraine Joint Chapter, IEEE MTT So-ciety Student Chapter, IRE OSA Student Chapter and Young Scientists Council of the A.Ya. Usikov Institute for Radio-physics and Electronics (IRE) NASU announce a two-day IEEE EDS Mini-Colloquium (MQ) and International Work-shop on Modern Challenges in Microwave Superconductivity, Photonics and Electronics. The event will be hosted by IRE NASU on 11-12 June 2009 in Kharkiv, the leading scientific center and the second largest city of Ukraine.
Scientific Program: The EDS MQ and Workshop program will accommodate invited-paper oral sessions and poster sessions on microwave electromagnetics of high-TC  and other unconventional superconductors, wave symmetry of order parameter, psuedogap state, vortex dynamics, linear and nonlinear phenomena in propagation of THz Joseph-son plasma waves, microwave characterization of high-TC  superconductors, microwave HTS-based devices and sys-tems and their nonlinear properties, photonic structures and circuits, plasmonics, lasers, microwave vacuum and solid state electronics. We welcome poster contributions from young scientists (under 35) to any of the above-mentioned fields.

Duration of invited talks is about 30 minutes. The working language of the workshop is English. Participants of poster sessions will be given the space equivalent to A0 format. Contributors are requested to submit an up to one-page abstract indicating affiliation, postal address, telephone, fax and e-mail by 22 May 2009.

Accommodation: Participants from other cities will be placed at the hotel of the Kharkiv Aviation Industries (15 min. from IRE NASU by local transport) in comfortable single- and double-occupation rooms.
Social program will include a Kharkiv city site-seeing tour, visit to the museum of IRE NASU, and workshop dinner.
